Greystone Castle: Boo!

I've never dressed up for Halloween in NYC but this year I felt up to the challenge. The gumption came after being invited to Greystone Castle. Greystone has a party every year in upstate NYC that is deemed the Spookiest Day Halloween Party of the year! Its family friendly and the Castle is nestled amongst a forest alongside the Hudson.

At first I thought I'd be a Palmer girl but then I didn't feel confident enough in pulling off a black mini dress and heels for an entire afternoon. Next, I though I'd be Pocahontus but I changed my mind due to the cold and a poor summer tan. After an hour it finally hit me. "I need not think twice about my outfit! I'll be Ugly Betty!"

I Styled the best Ugly Betty outfit using my own clothes and showed up at Greystone Castle with Wendy the Robot in full effect. People actually asked to take photos with us.

The Castle was decorated to the tee and the spread of libations and candy was too much. I think I stayed in the "Sweets Room" for well over an hour; the consistent flow of bon-bons and lattes sucked me in.

Towards the end of the party, I actually met someone tho knows Ana [Hilda on Ugly Betty] and America Ferrera [Ugly Betty]. She noted my resemblance to Ugly as "uncanny." I gave her my email address and said to pass it along. Maybe they might need a stand in sometime soon.

Style

These images where either Styled by me or Photographed by me in early 2006 and late 2007. I found them while consolidating my image library.

My tastes have definitely changed over the years but I think a few things remain the same:

I love NYC and Brooklyn.
I heart lifestyle aesthetics.
I love color.

Celebrity Apprentice

Day before yesterday was the most fun I've had in a long time. Let me give you a few details:

A. Called in for a job with Lord & Taylor
B. Shopped all day long with Lord & Taylor Stylist [Tanya T.] as well as Joan Rivers on camera
C. Attended a taping of the Celebrity Apprentice and met Donald Trump, Clint Black and Ivanka

If you tune into the Celebrity Apprentice next year you might see me running around like crazy with shoes in hand, resembling a fresh out of college graduate looking to make it in fashion. Honestly, after that taping, I think I've finally arrived.

PS. I took 2 photos above with my iPhone. "Hip shot" style.

Keller NYC

Above is a blog I posted for WC Mag. It gives props to yet another coming of age designer.

Additional Thoughts: I'm finding that writing bios about fashion or artists in Brooklyn is not only something I completely enjoy, but I almost feel like a detective while doing so.

Besos para Working Class Magazine

I've just returned from a mini Holiday in South Africa and I feel great. My trip was incredible, if not definitely life changing.  I encourage you to visit South Africa not only for Safaris and intoxicating beaches but for its every day culture.  Expect to fall in love with the people as well as the food; wild game was my favorite!

Till then, please take in a read of this month's Working Class Magazine. I wrote 2 articles in their online issue for October 2008: Angela Chen of Orange and Tiffany Porter of Old Hollywood.

I admire both of these women for their creative and business minds. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for you and me.
